Let's talk about the axiom that two (or more!) truths can exist at the same time.
We can feel strong and weak at the same time. We can feel confident and scared at the same time. We can feel bored and anxious at the same time.
It is normal to find ourselves in a both a state of letting go and a state of growth.
Often we feel a sense of relief and grief both about the same situation. And we don't have to convince ourselves to change those parallel feelings!
Our bad day, or good day, isn't less of or more of, just because someone else's was worse or better. Both have a place and can exist tangentially, and each with as much merit as the other.
If we soften the edges of our need for extremes and absolutes, we give permission for the fluidity and freedom of two truths to exist at the same time.
A balancing yoga pose, or yoga class, gives us perspective that we can juggle more than one sensation or emotion at one time, even though it might feel a little unstable. So, the next time you find yourself on your mat feeling both strong and unbalanced, or energetic and exhausted, allow both to shape your practice that day without any judgment, and leave it all behind to support you and ground you the next time you roll out your mat.
