Friends, family teachers, mentors, colleagues are in our lives to stand next to us or walk with us, to give us better ideas on how to carry all of our things when our hands feel full, to listen as we tell our story, and to ask advice. We weren't designed to do all of this heavy lifting on our own, and there isn't one right way for us to get where we are headed. Sometimes our loved ones have a better vantage point of our scenario than we do, and it's ok if we ask for help.
On our mat, props are a huge support to our practice as both a beginner and a seasoned yogi. Using blocks, straps, or blankets can really enhance our shapes, creating space between you and the earth for deeper engagement or a more expansive range of motion, they might add cushion to protect the joints, or take out unnecessary tension. They also add a powerful or challenging element depending on how you incorporate them into your practice.
We are stronger together. We don't have to do this alone. Lean into your support system.
The days we feel strong enough to do it on our own are encouraging, and the days we need to lean into the support system we have in place are uplifting; both equally important for our growth.
