Joy in the Snow

Joy in the Snow

"If you choose not to find joy in the snow, you will have less joy in your life but the same amount of snow."

My friend Kristi posts this quote every winter, and it always resonates! Do you allow the winter weather to take the joy out of your life? Or have you made time to snowshoe, or ski, or make a snowman? Have you watched a movie with a hot chocolate and the fireplace on? Have you done more indoor projects, or come to more yoga classes? What about bundling up for a sunny (and chilly) lunchtime walk?

There are so many ways to embrace what we have and where we live without letting it steal all of our joy and peace.

How many other ways can we apply this concept in our lives? What are the things that we give permission to steal our joy that we truly don't have to allow?

Think of how often we let someone else's opinion of us change our attitude or confidence, when the opinion isn't going to change, but our level of happiness or confidence does.

What about when your plans get derailed because of a hiccup in your day that was out of your control? Are you able to adapt and keep the peace?

Some of the necessary evils of life, like household chores, or paying the parking meters, or snow, aren't going to go away just because we don't like them, so why do we keep letting them steal our joy? Instead, we can practice acceptance and adaptability, and maybe add a little humor, and still hold on to our state of mind.

We are lucky enough to come into the safe, warm, comfortable space of Elevate to find some solace, set down our 'things' for a little while, and regain our sense of peace.
