Are you Really Listening?

Are you Really Listening?

Picture this: your friend calls and says they need your opinion on something. They start to tell you their situation, and a few sentences into the story, you already have your response prepared and you proceed to halfway listen to the rest of what they have to say. Maybe you even interrupt them with your solution before they are done sharing! Sound familiar? When do we actually listen to and absorb the details of what people are telling or asking us? Maybe there was still more to the story that would have provided even more clarity!

Our bodies, our gut, our hearts experience the same thing if we always cover up our physical ailments with medicine, if we dismiss our gut intuition, or if we continue to build walls around our hearts.

We deserve to spend a little extra time actually listening to what is happening around and within us, just as we might slow down and listen intently for wildlife on a hike in the woods.

Often we have a solution before we have even identified the actual problem, and we aren't willing to take the time to process what we have heard. A yoga practice can provide this uninterrupted, intentional time to just listen.

The repetition of physical sensations or emotions that keep coming back, or a message in our mind we continue to suppress might provide more clarity if we listened as closely to the messages from ourselves as we do to the noise around us.
